Admission requirements for our programmes follow the standards set by the Ministry of Health and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. Requirements for a given admission year are stated in the national admissions advertisement; the summary below is a general guide.
Diploma Programmes (RGN / RM)
WASSCE applicants: credit passes (A1 – C6) in six (6) subjects — three core subjects (English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science) and three elective subjects.
SSSCE applicants: passes (A – D) in six (6) subjects — three core and three electives.
Preferred elective backgrounds include General Science, General Arts, Home Economics, Agricultural Science and Business.
Degree Programmes (BSc Nursing / BSc Midwifery)
WASSCE credit passes (A1 – C6) in three core subjects (English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science) and three elective subjects, with an aggregate that meets the cut-off of the affiliated university for the year of admission.
A science background (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Elective Mathematics) is an advantage.
Top-Up Programmes
A Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery from an accredited institution.
Current registration and a valid PIN from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
General Requirements — All Applicants
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission.
Applicants must be of good physical and mental health and will undergo a medical examination on admission.
Results from more than one sitting may be combined where the national admissions guidelines for the year permit.
