Library Catalogue

The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is how you find what the Library holds — books, reference works, journals and audio-visual materials — and where each item sits on the shelves.

Three Steps

How to Find a Book

01

Search the Catalogue

Search by author, title or subject to find the item you need in the Library’s holdings.

02

Note the Class Number

Every record shows a class number — the address that tells you where the book is shelved.

03

Go to the Shelf

Our open-shelf system lets you go straight to the shelf and take the book down yourself.

How It Is Arranged

Library of Congress Classification

The collection is classified using the Library of Congress Classification Scheme, and arranged on open shelves so readers have direct access to the materials.

Health sciences material — the core of our collection — is shelved in Class R, with nursing at RT and gynaecology and obstetrics at RG.

What You Will Find

Need Help Searching?

If you cannot find an item, or you are not sure where to start, ask at the issue desk — the library staff will help you search the catalogue and locate materials. New students are also taken through the catalogue during library orientation. Access terminals are available in the Library during opening hours, 9:00am – 5:00pm on weekdays.
